The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) Jigawa Command has received six human trafficking victims intercepted by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) in Babura Local Government Area. The victims, comprising two males and four females aged 32-36, were en route to Europe via Libya and Niger Republic ¹ ².
NAPTIP Commander Abdulkadir Turajo assured thorough investigation to determine whether the individuals are victims, agents, or accomplices. The agency commended NIS for their partnership in combating human trafficking and urged residents to verify offers, especially from unknown persons, to prevent falling prey to trafficking syndicates ¹ ².
This interception highlights NAPTIP's efforts to curb human trafficking, with 221 victims rescued in Jigawa within two years and 175 sensitization activities conducted across communities, schools, and markets ³.
