FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has rejected his expulsion from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), describing the party members who supported the decision as "intoxicated". Wike's Senior Special Assistant on Publicity and Communications, Lere Olayinka, stated that the members were "intoxicated" during the PDP national convention in Ibadan, Oyo State, and their actions should be ignored ¹ ² ³.

The PDP had expelled Wike, former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, and former party National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu, among others, for alleged anti-party activities. However, Wike's faction has disputed the expulsion, with some members claiming the convention was illegitimate ⁴ ⁵.

Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, who chairs the PDP's National Convention Organizing Committee, has distanced himself from the expulsion, citing concerns about the party's unity and stability ⁵.
