Abia State Deputy Governor, Ikechukwu Emetu, has denied involvement in an altercation between former Councillor Uguru Uduma and current Councillor Daniel Eke Uru in Ohafia local government. The incident, which occurred on November 6, sparked widespread outrage after a viral video showed Uduma being assaulted by a group of youths allegedly acting on Uru's instructions ¹.

In a statement, Emetu's Chief Press Secretary, Chukwudi Mba, described allegations linking the Deputy Governor to the incident as "incorrect and malicious". Emetu emphasized his commitment to peace, justice, and good governance, stating he doesn't interfere in local political disagreements or personal disputes.

Uduma's wife, Ezinne Uguru Uduma, had accused Emetu of orchestrating the assault, but the Deputy Governor's office dismissed this as a deliberate attempt to tarnish his reputation. Emetu has directed the Mayor of Ohafia Local Government Area to convene a peace and reconciliation meeting between the parties involved ¹ ².
