The crisis rocking the Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has taken a new turn, with a chieftain of the party, Dr. Tom FredFish, pointing accusing fingers at the party itself. According to FredFish, the PDP is responsible for its own problems in the state ¹ ².

The rift between Governor Sim Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, has been at the center of the crisis. However, FredFish believes that the party's attempts to resolve the issue have been misguided. He particularly criticized the proposed return of Hon. Martins Amaewhule as the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, describing it as "unlawful, criminal, unconstitutional, and vile" ¹.

FredFish argued that Amaewhule and 26 other individuals are no longer members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, and therefore, restoring him as Speaker would be unnecessary and unwarranted. He emphasized that the party's actions should be guided by the constitution and the rule of law ¹.

The PDP has been struggling to find a lasting solution to the crisis, which has threatened to tear the party apart. FredFish's comments are likely to add fuel to the fire, as he explicitly stated that the party's leadership is to blame for the woes facing the PDP in Rivers State ³ ².
