In a major breakthrough, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has successfully dismantled a trans-border gunrunning syndicate, arresting five key suspects and recovering a substantial cache of weapons ¹.

The operation, carried out by operatives of the Force Intelligence Bureau Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT), resulted in the seizure of:

- *17 rifles*, including 10 locally fabricated AK-47 rifles and five Israeli-made AK-47 rifles
- *A revolver pistol*
- *A pump-action rifle*
- *20 rounds of AK-47 ammunition*
- *A welding machine* believed to be used for manufacturing weapons

The suspects, identified as Adamu Noma, Matthew Audu, Andrew Poyi, Aminu Sani, and Aminu Talha, were apprehended on November 18, 2024 ¹.

This operation marks a significant milestone in the NPF's efforts to combat crime and insecurity nationwide. The Inspector-General of Police, Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has commended the operatives for their hard work and dedication, while also reaffirming his directive for an intensified mop-up of illegal arms and ammunition ¹.
