A devastating road accident occurred in Jigawa State, Nigeria, claiming 11 lives and leaving 9 others injured. The crash happened on Christmas Day, around 4:30 pm, at Bagewu village in Ringim Local Government Area, when a red Golf 3 saloon car (LNG 983 XA) burst a tyre, causing the driver to lose control and crash into a tree ¹ ² ³.
The vehicle was carrying 20 passengers, including six men, eight women, and six children, traveling from Masaka village in Bauchi State to Dutsi village in Katsina State. The Jigawa State Police Command confirmed the incident and has launched an investigation.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) attributes the accident to overloading, excessive speeding, and the tyre burst. The injured are receiving treatment at Ringim General Hospital, while the deceased were pronounced dead on arrival ² ⁴ ⁵.
