A devastating multiple-vehicle crash on the Jos-Bauchi Road in Plateau State, Nigeria, has claimed the lives of 10 people and left several others injured. The accident, which occurred at around 12:12 a.m. on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, involved four vehicles - two articulated trucks and two Ford Galaxy minibuses ¹ ² ³.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed that 19 people were involved in the crash, comprising 17 males and two females. The injured victims were rushed to nearby hospitals, including the General Hospital Miyanbarkate, Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH), and Plateau State Specialist Hospital, for medical attention ¹ ².

Preliminary investigations revealed that excessive speed and reckless driving, leading to loss of control, were major contributing factors to the crash. The FRSC Sector Commander, Corps Commander Olajide Mogaji, expressed concern over the incident, noting that it occurred barely 12 days after a similar crash claimed the lives of eight University of Jos students ¹ ².

The rescue operation was jointly carried out by personnel of the FRSC, Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian military, and members of the local community. Mogaji urged motorists to avoid night travel, excessive speeding, and other dangerous driving practices, emphasizing the importance of personal safety ¹ ².
