Suspected gunmen attacked vehicles on the Eruku-Egbe road in Kwara State, Nigeria, leaving one person dead and several others injured. The attack occurred on Sunday around 5 pm, forcing motorists to abandon their vehicles and flee for safety.

According to eyewitnesses, the gunmen opened fire on commuters traveling through the area, creating chaos and confusion. The attackers, believed to be armed bandits, have been targeting motorists and passengers in the area, causing a traffic standstill.

The incident has heightened fear among residents and road users who rely on the route for interstate travel. The Kwara State Police Commissioner, Adekimi Ojo, confirmed the attack, stating that the driver of one of the vehicles sought refuge at Eruku Police Station.

This is not an isolated incident, as the Ayere-Kabba axis has become increasingly unsafe, with criminal gangs operating between Kogi and Kwara States launching frequent attacks on travelers [1][2][3].
