A severe thunderstorm hit Enugu on September 3, 2025, causing significant damage to a Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) transmission line. The 132kV Otukpo-Nsukka-New Haven transmission line collapsed, resulting in a high-voltage discharge that destroyed a residential building and a parked car, and tragically killed two cows.

The TCN's Quick Response Line Maintenance Team has begun dismantling the damaged section and restringing new conductors to restore the line safely and quickly. The company emphasized the importance of respecting transmission infrastructure and avoiding encroachment on transmission line corridors.
