Veteran Nollywood actor, Yemi Solade, has revealed why he has stayed away from church services for more than ten years, a decision he says dates back to 2013.

In an interview on the Honest Bunch Podcast, Solade explained that church life became more of a burden than a blessing.

He recounted a particular incident that pushed him to his decision. “If you see me in church today, it’s probably because we’re shooting a movie. Back in 2013, I went to church with my wife. They asked me to tell producers not to call me for jobs on Sundays, and I reacted. The same offering they expect comes from the work they told me not to do,”he said.

The actor also dismissed the belief that life automatically falls apart without regular church attendance. According to him, his life has been more peaceful since stepping back.

“People say if you don’t go to church, your life will nosedive. I’ve not seen that happen. Instead, I enjoy peace and progress. Back then, it was always one message or disturbance after another,”he noted.

Solade added that endless church activities were interfering with his career and personal growth. “If you’re not called into one committee, it’s another program. At what point do I have time to work?”he asked.

His revelation has sparked widespread conversations online, with many debating the balance between religious obligations and personal freedom.
