Family of Edo Furniture Maker Demands Justice After Brutal Killing

The family of Mr. Aruna Imuekheme, a 41-year-old furniture maker, is demanding justice after he was brutally beaten to death by suspected gang members in Edo State. The incident occurred on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Mr. Imuekheme's workshop along Old Ahor Road, Eyean in Uhunmwode Local Government Area.

Circumstances Surrounding the Death
According to eyewitnesses, the hoodlums arrived at the workshop, attempting to steal tools and other items. When apprentices and nearby residents resisted, a scuffle ensued. Upon Mr. Imuekheme's return, the men descended on him, using dangerous weapons. The motive behind the attack appears to stem from a dispute over faulty work completed about six months prior.

Investigation and Arrests
Three suspects have been arrested by the Edo State Police Command in connection with the incident. The family has reported the matter to the police and reached out to the Chairman of Edo State Special Security Squad for intervention.

Family's Plea
Mr. Imuekheme's brother, Lukeman, appealed for fairness, equity, and justice in handling the case. "We appeal for fairness, equity, and justice in handling this case. We have also reached out to the Chairman of Edo State Special Security Squad, Operation Flush Out Kidnappers and Cultists for intervention," Lukeman stated.

Medical Response
The victim was rushed to multiple hospitals, including a health center at Eyean Primary School, Narrow Way Hospital, and Edo Specialist Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival at 12:08 pm.

Call to Action
The family is urging the Edo State Government and the Commissioner of Police to ensure a thorough investigation into the murder and bring all perpetrators to justice ¹.
