Abia Police Nab Another Suspect in University Robbery Case

The Abia State Police Command has arrested another suspect linked to a series of armed robberies targeting students of Abia State University (ABSU), Uturu, and other residents in the area. Chukwujekwu Uzoedo, a 26-year-old suspect from Imo State, was apprehended on July 23, 2025, at approximately 9:40 a.m. in a joint operation by police officers and local residents.

Recovered Items
During the operation, the police recovered several stolen items from Uzoedo's possession, including ¹:
- *Electronics:*
    - One HP laptop
    - One Tecno Android phone
    - One Tecno POP 5 phone
    - One Itel Android phone
    - One Infinix Android phone
    - One iPhone 16
- *Accessories:*
    - One white earpod
    - One black earpod
    - One motorcycle

Investigation and Arrests
This arrest follows an earlier operation on July 17, 2025, where four other suspects were apprehended in connection with the same case. The suspects arrested earlier were:
- *Jerry Chisom*, 32, from Umagu Ogwuelle, Uturu
- *Tochukwu Ugula*, 32, from Amadi Achara, Uturu
- *Chinonso Nwankwo*, 28, from Nbaka Ugwuelle Uturu
- *Kingsley Onyekeba*, 19, from Arondizogu Ideato, Imo State

The police command has intensified efforts to dismantle the network behind the crimes and urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity promptly.

Public Alert
The Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa, commended the joint effort between officers and community members and called on state residents to continue supporting law enforcement efforts. He urged the public to report suspicious activities or individuals through the Command's emergency hotlines ².
