The Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN) has accused the Federal Government of allowing physicians to dominate both the health and education sectors. In a petition addressed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, ACPN National Chairman, Pharmacist Ambrose Igwekamma Ezeh, expressed concerns over the alleged monopolization of key positions by physicians.
*Allegations Against Physician-Dominated Associations*
Ezeh alleged that physician-dominated associations, such as the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria (MDCAN), and the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), have been subjugating other professional bodies in both sectors.
*Demands for Action*
The ACPN urged President Tinubu to address the issue, citing disparities in remuneration of workers in both sectors. Ezeh warned that national growth and development would be stunted if the issue is not addressed promptly.
*Abuse of Power by Hospital CEOs*
The petition also highlighted instances of abuse of power by hospital CEOs, who allegedly punish professionals for upholding professional standards.

The ACPN called on President Tinubu to wield the "big stick" and address the issue without delay, emphasizing that the time to act is now, in the public interest.
