His Royal Majesty, Eze Nnamdi Ofoegbu, the Chairman of the Ndigbo Progressive Traditional Rulers Forum, was involved in a serious car accident late Saturday night along the Umuahia–Uzuakoli road, close to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) office.
Eyewitnesses at the scene said the accident occurred around 10:00 PM when a speeding Dangote truck, reportedly heavily loaded, lost control and veered into the path of the traditional ruler’s Toyota Prado SUV. In a desperate move to avoid a direct collision, Eze Ofoegbu swerved off the road and crashed into a deep roadside gutter near the Chidiebere Transport office.
The impact left his vehicle badly damaged, and the monarch sustained injuries to his chest after hitting the steering wheel. He was quickly taken to a nearby medical facility where he is currently receiving treatment. Sources close to the royal family confirmed that he is in stable condition and recovering well.
Our correspondent who reached the royal father via phone reports that Eze Ofoegbu is in good spirits despite the unfortunate incident.
The damaged SUV has been towed away from the scene while authorities have commenced an investigation into the cause of the accident.
