The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned Oluwadahunsola Taiwo, CEO of Green Eagles Agribusiness Solution Limited, over alleged investment fraud amounting to N11.2 million. Taiwo was brought before the Lagos State High Court, Ikeja, on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining money under false pretenses.
Background of the Case
According to court documents, the complainant, Adepoju Idowu, claimed to have invested various sums in agricultural ventures promoted by Taiwo between February and October 2020. These investments included a vegetable plantation, a rice farm, and the Green Wealth Project, with promised returns ranging from 30% to 40% per annum. However, the company allegedly failed to deliver the promised returns, and efforts to reach Taiwo were unsuccessful.
Charges Against Taiwo
One of the charges reads: "That you, Oluwadajunsola Taiwo, and Green Eagles Agribusiness Solution Limited, between February and October 2020, in Lagos, dishonestly converted to your own use an aggregate sum of N11,260,000.00, property of Adepoju Idowu, thereby committing an offence of Stealing contrary to Section 285(1)(a) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011."
Trial and Remand
Taiwo pleaded not guilty to the charges. The prosecuting counsel, R.A. Abdulrasheed, requested a trial date and urged the court to remand the defendant in a correctional facility pending trial. Justice O.A. Okunuga granted the request and adjourned the case to October 23, 2025, for trial to commence.
